Climate and CO2

There is good reason in choosing wood for your worktop to other materials, because wood is the most climate friendly building material that exists.

Selecting worktops in solid wood, you as a consumer can take active part in fighting CO2emissions and contribute to reducing climate change.

Wood stores part of the CO2 we as humans emit and storing does not cease even if the wood is cut and made into worktops or other wooden products.

In that way, worktops in solid wood etc. postpone the emission of CO2 into the atmosphere, and at the end of its life the worktop can be burnt into CO2 neutral energy.

Example:

1m3 of wood takes up approx. 1 ton of CO2 and replaces the use of another material at the same time, which means a CO2 saving of approx. 2 tons of CO2. The total effect is thus 3 tons of CO2.

A worktop solution of, say, 8 metres of worktop, 650mm deep with a thickness of 40mm equals: A total CO2saving of approx. 600kg.

In comparison, the average CO2 emission per Dane is 10 tonnes per year.
